Lowes ready to relight Moto2 title charge at Sachsenring

Tuesday 12 July 2016

The Moto2 World Championship challenge resumes this weekend for Sam Lowes and the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 in Germany, on the twisty Sachsenring track. The ninth round of the season, which marks the halfway point of the 2016 campaign, will feature once again the exciting fight between the 25-year-old British rider and his two rivals for the title, Alex Rins and Johann Zarco, who currently top the overall standings with 126 points, 5 more than Lowes, at 121.

The Sachsenring circuit evokes positive memories for Sam Lowes, who got a good fifth place finish in 2015, and especially for the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, who won one year ago with Xavier Siméon in front of future World Champion Johann Zarco. Free practice will kick off Friday, July 15 at 10:55 local time, while on Sunday the 29-lap race will start at 12.20.

SAM SAID:

“I cannot wait to get back on track at Sachsenring: we are just 5 points off the top of the overall standings, so we are determined to fight to get back on the podium and thus start a new charge for the title. After the race at Assen, which was a bit strange with the red flag in the final stages, I feel confident and I know that I can pick up a good result: the team has very good data available for this circuit and their victory in 2015 proves it. In Germany the Grand Prix is always a great event with a really good atmosphere and also the track is certainly interesting, small and quite different from many others. I’m looking forward to start working together with the team”.
