Career

In 2010 I will be riding for GNS racing in the British Supersport Championship. I am very excited about the upcoming season and I only have one thing on my mind and that’s to become British Supersport Champion and prove that I have what it takes.

Here follows a brief summary of my racing career so far...

Between the ages of 8 and 11, I raced in many motorcross events and races with varied success, the highlight being winning 2 Club Championships, 1 South Humberside Junior 65cc and the other being the Norfolk and Suffolk Junior 65 Championships. I rode a Kawasaki 65cc bike for most of my motorcross career but I always knew that as soon as I was old enough I was going road racing.

2002 was my first year of road racing and I raced a Cagiva 80cc machine in the JRA Championahip finishing 4th overall with a best result of 2nd place. It was a big learning year and one that made me realise that the only thing that I wanted to do was go road racing and be the best I possibly could be. From the first lap I ever did on a road bike at Three Sisters in Wigan I knew this was what I wanted and ever since I haven't wanted anything alse except to be World Champion.

In 2003 I raced an Aprilia 125cc machine in the Aprilia Superteen Championship which was for riders between the ages of 13 and 19. Even though I was only 12 until September I was allowed to compete in the full championship finishing 6th overall, with 3 race wins and 9 podiums, which included a very strong end of season run.

In 2004 I moved up to the GP125 MRO Championship. Being my first year on a GP machine it was a big learning curve. I also did a wildcard at 2 German Championship races and 1 British Championship race. My best MRO result of the season was 4th place.

2005 was a big year for me as it was my first year in the British Superbike paddock and one in which I learnt and improved so so much, with my worst result of 19th being at race one and my best result being at the last round where I won the Academy Cup section of the race and finished 2nd in the overall race at just 15 years of age. This was a brilliant end of season for me which progressed well into 2006.

In 2006 I really showed that I could run at the front and win races, and set numerous pole positions and front row starts (starting from the front row in 9 of the 12 races), setting the Croft lap record and becoming one of the youngest ever winners of a British Championship race when I won at Oulton park aged just 15. So 2006 was a very succesful and positive year for me, ending up 6th in the overall Championship and 2nd in the Cup even though an unfortunate DNF at the final round at Brands Hatch cost me the Cup title.

The 2007 season saw me make a massive jump into British Supersport riding a Honda CBR600RR. My best result of a 14th place came at the last round at Brands Hatch Indy. I improved tremendously throughout 2007 and had a very very enjoyable year aboard the new to me 4 stroke machine. The season was a massive learning curve and for all but 2 of the rounds I was still only 16 years old which is the youngest you can be to ride a 600. So it was very positive for me to achieve the results I did.

Again I changed my class and championship for 2008, this saw me riding for an Italian Honda Team in the European Superstock 600 Championship. I really wanted to break into Europe and race on the world stage, and this championship is made up of all the best young riders from around Europe, so is very tough, and brought my riding on very well. I had a lot to learn and get used to in 2008 as nearly all the tracks I raced at were new to me and also being in a different environment with a new team was a new situation for me, but gaining a best result of 6th place with 5 other points scoring rides I managed to have a very respectable season, in my rookie season away from the UK. The season made me realise how much different racing is in Europe and that over the next few years I need to be looking at trying to get back. Thanks must go to Team Azione Corse for giving me the opportunity to race in Europe for the 2008 season.

In 2009 I competed in the British Supersport Cup for Astro Racing then Co-Ordit Performance and we managed to win the series, taking 9 race wins from 11 starts.
I also competed in 5 World Supersport races for Italian Honda Team Echo CRS Grand Prix which was a mega experience that will benefit me very much for 2010. The team was mega and it was awesome at 18 years old to be given the opportunity to compete at the highest level of Supersport in the World.
